Sue’s Circle of Hope – The Wellness Community of the North Shore

The Wellness Community – Sue’s Circle of Hope in Salem is a proud member of an organization of more than 100 non-profit Wellness Communities worldwide, providing free support, education and hope to people with cancer and their loved ones. The Sue de Vries Cancer Foundation, founded in 2006 by Sue and her friends and family, is a substantial source of support for North Shore’s facility in Salem.

Sue’s Circle of Hope is named in memory of TWC’s dear friend, and 2005 Gilda Radner Award honoree, Susan de Vries. Sue courageously fought her breast cancer, undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormonal and pharmaceutical treatments. Sue relished every day and was an inspiration to many people literally fighting for their lives. It was Sue’s dream to establish a wellness center in her own community.

Brought to the North Shore with the encouragement and funds generated by the Sue de Vries Cancer Foundation, TWC – Sue’s Circle of Hope is located at 79 Lafayette St., Salem. The center shares the philosophy of: that of enhancing health and wellbeing for those whose lives have been touched by cancer – without charge.

TWC at Sue's Circle of Hope provides professionally-led support groups, educational workshops, nutrition and exercise programs, and mind-body classes to help those affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of their disease. In the Greater Boston area, TWC sister agencies are located in Newton, Roxbury, and Hanover. Internationally, facilities are located in Tel Aviv and Tokyo.
